EUROPEAN & WORLD JUNIORS PARA ATHLETICS MEDALLISTS JOIN BRITISH SQUAD FOR MANCHESTER INT

World Para Athletics European T38 100m and 200m champion Thomas Young (coach: Joe McDonnell; club: Charnwood), World Para Athletics Junior T20 1500m bronze medallist Prince Reid (David Liston; Blackheath & Bromley) and world junior finalist, India Oates (Helen Bowles; Darlington Harriers), will join the Great Britain & Northern Ireland team for the Manchester International on Wednesday 14 August.

The trio will race in three para athletics events integrated into the competition format and join the 50 British junior athletes previously announced for the international competition next week.

Young, who burst onto the scene in 2018 with double gold in Berlin, has continued making rapid improvements over the course of the year, shaving nearly four-tenths off his personal best and is currently ranked the third fastest man in the world in the T38 classification.

It will be his debut at the Manchester International, where he will pit himself against some of the best para-sprinters from across the country in the men’s ambulant 100m.

Contesting the mixed classification 1500m, Prince Reid (David Liston; Blackheath & Bromley) earns his second British vest following his bronze medal out in Switzerland last Sunday over the 1500m.

India Oates (Helen Bowles; Darlington Harriers) [T35] will also don the British vest once more in the women’s ambulant 100m having finished sixth and eighth respectively in the 100m and 200m in Nottwil last week.
