UK Athletics 10,000m Championships to be held at Loughborough International Athletics
The 2026 UK Athletics 10,000m Championships will take place at the Loughborough International Athletics (LIA) event at Loughborough University on 17 May 2026. The Championship race is scheduled to begin at approximately 19:30, following the conclusion of the LIA meet.
This race will also serve as the official trial for the European Championships, which will be held in Birmingham later in the summer. Athletes will be competing not only for national honours but also for the chance to secure selection for the home championships.
Speaking on the announcement, Chris Jones UK Athletics Head of Endurance Strategy said:
“Bringing the UKA 10,000m Championships to the 2026 Loughborough International reinforces our commitment to the domestic endurance pathway, it is great to have the Championships at this much loved track and field event. Thank you to the team at Loughborough University for helping to facilitate this. I look forward to seeing our endurance athletes rise to the occasion at this fantastic event.”
The event will take place at the renowned Paula Radcliffe Stadium, a venue well known for its elite-standard facilities and long-standing tradition of supporting high‑performance athletics.
On hosting the event, Femi Akinsanya Director of Athletics at the University said:
