EXCITEMENT BUILDS WITH 50 DAYS TO GO UNTIL THE LONDON ATHLETICS MEET

There are just 50 days to go until the London Athletics Meeting takes place on Sunday 23 July.

The tenth stop of the Wanda Diamond League series will see the event return to the London Stadium for the first time since 2019 and there are already a whole host of athletics superstars who have confirmed they will compete at the event.

The women’s 100m line-up already includes Olympic, world and European medallist Dina Asher-Smith (GBR) taking to the start line against 200m world champion, Shericka Jackson (JAM) with more names coming soon.

Reigning world 1500m champion Jake Wightman (GBR) will star in the middle-distance event, with double European champion Matthew Hudson-Smith (GBR) another British star in the mix.

Also on the track, Olympic and world silver medallist Keely Hodgkinson will headline the women’s 800m in one of the highlights of the event programme.

Femke Bol (NED), one of the fastest 400m hurdlers of all-time, adds start dust to the field as she goes over the barriers in the London Stadium, while reigning world champion, Grant Holloway has been confirmed to race over the men’s 110m hurdles.

The field events are already stacked with Ryan Crouser (USA) – who extended his world record to 23.56m in California last month – leading the men’s shot put line-up. Another Olympic champion, Mutaz Essa Barshim (QAT) is set to compete in the men’s high jump.

After winning European indoor gold in Istanbul earlier this year, Jazmin Sawyers (GBR) is confirmed to go in the women’s long jump, so tickets for the sand pit will be in high demand to see Briton’s newest European champion in action.
