WEEKEND UPDATE - 30-31 OCTOBER

World Mountain Running Association Nations Cup [Val Bregaglia Trail], Chiavenna, Italy, 30 October

Scotland’s Scout Adkin (Moorfoot) finished second in the women’s race at the WMRC Nations Cup event, while England’s Kate Maltby (Christopher Frapwell, Bristol & West) was fifth with her compatriot Caroline Lambert (Middlesbrough) in sixth position.

England’s team won the women’s event overall, with Kirsteen Welch (Tom Craggs, Sidmouth) making it three inside the top 10.

On home soil at the Val Bregaglia Trail race, Italy’s Francesca Ghelfi won by over a minute and half from Adkin, in a time of 1:34.01.

In the men’s race, England’s Chris Richards (Helm Hill) was fifth overall in a race won by Filimon Abraham (GER). Max Nicholls (Peter Brenchley, Tonbridge), also representing the England team, was 10th in the field.

Hoka One Hour Run, Phoenix, Arizona, 30 October

Alice Wright (Ben Rosario, Worcester) set a UK one-hour track record in Phoenix, Arizona at the weekend, revising the previous best set by Michaela McCallum twenty-one years ago.

Wright, who finished sixth over 10,000m for Great Britain and Northern Ireland at the 2018 European Championships, covered 17,044m in one hour. The previous best stood at 16,495m.
