Müller Grand Prix Gateshead, 23 May

Dina Asher-Smith (John Blackie, Blackheath and Bromley), Laura Muir (Andy Young, Dundee Hawkshill) and Cindy Sember (Jeff Porter, Woodford Green and Essex Ladies) were among the British winners in the Diamond League meeting in the north-east of England.

Sophie Hahn (Leon Baptiste, Charnwood), Ali Smith (Benke Blomkvist, Guildford and Godalming), Columba Blango (Chris Zah, Shaftesbury Barnet) and Thomas Young (Joe McDonnell, Charnwood) were the first-placed athletes in the mixed classification para athletics races.

Swiss Nationals, Arbon, Switzerland, 21-22 May

There were three world records for Hannah Cockroft (Jenni Banks, Leeds) at the Swiss Nationals event. She reset the marks in the women’s T34 100m, 200m and 800m.

Daniela Jutzeler Memorial, Switzerland, 24 May

Hannah Cockroft completed the clean sweep of world records in four days as she made history as she moved to 53.99 in the T34 400m and lowered her T34 800m record to 1:48.87.

It is the first time a T34 woman has dipped under 55 seconds and she achieved the feat in a solo effort on the final day of action in Arbon. In the 800m, she improved the time she set on the track over the weekend.

11 years after setting his previous PBs over the distances, David Weir (Jenny Archer, Weir Archer Academy) improved his T54 800m and 1500m marks. In the 800m, he clocked 1:31.12 to take over a second and a half off his previous best. In the 1500m, he dipped under 2:55 for the first time with a time of 2:54.91.

Nathan Maguire (Ste Hoskins, Kirkby) ended an impressive series in Switzerland with some more quick times. He won the T54 400m contest in a season best of 46.68, while in the 200m he was second in 25.15 and over 800m, he was fourth in 1:32.64.

Also in the T54 classification, Dillon Labrooy (Jenny Archer, Weir Archer Academy) earned a PB in the 1500m with a new mark of 3:00.65 to his name. Over 800m he came home in 1:37.27.

Sammi Kinghorn (Rodger Harkins, Red Star) looked in supreme form as she won her 400m race in a time of 53.98, narrowly outside her PB. 16.30 was her time over 100m and 1:48.60 in the 800m as she earned more victories to conclude her strong Swiss showing.

In the men’s T34 400m, Ben Rowlings (Coventry) was close to his best, just 0.06s off his PB as he posted a time of 51.71. Over 800m, he recorded 1:42.04 while the 100m saw him finish in 16.86 (-0.3).

Loughborough International, 23 May

The Great Britain and Northern Ireland U20 team finished third behind England and Loughborough Students at the Loughborough International match.

In the field, Taylor Campbell (coach: John Pearson, club: Windsor Slough Eton & Hounslow) was in top form as he improved his PB to 76.97m to move to fifth on the UK all-time list in the men’s hammer.

Adidas Boost Boston Games, Boston, USA, 23 May 2021

Zharnel Hughes (Glen Mills, Shaftesbury Barnet) posted 200m straight PB in a time of 19.93 (-0.3 m/s). He was narrowly edged out of taking the won by Jerome Brown (Canada) who won in a time of 19.89.

Kristal Awuah (Matthew Thomas, Herne Hill) clocked a time of 11.46 (-0.5) in one of the heats of the women’s 100m in Boston.

World Athletics Continental Tour Bronze Level, Dessau, Germany, 21 May

Alex Botterill (Andrew Henderson, City of York) ran a PB in the men’s 800m, stopping the clock at 1:46.52. He was third overall in the race with Ben Pattison (Dave Ragan, Basingstoke and Mid Hants) sixth in 1:46.84.

Asha Philip (Steve Fudge, Shaftesbury Barnet) opened her 2021 season over the 100m as she ran a time of 11.46 (1.7) for sixth position in the final. Ojie Edoburun (Steve Fudge, ran a wind-assisted mark in the men’s 100m, 10.31 (2.2).

In the women’s 800m Alex Bell (Andrew Henderson, Pudsey and Bramley) was fourth in a 2:02.04 in a race by Renelle Lamote (FRA) in 2:01.66.
