Podium 5km, Barrowford, Lancashire, 3 April
Beth Potter (Andrew Henderson; Shaftesbury Barnet) ran a stunning time of 14:41 over 5km which was a significant lifetime best and also went inside the world record time, however, is unable to be ratified for area record purposes.
Potter, who has been competing in triathlon for the last couple of years and ran in the Olympic 10,000m final in Rio, ran under 15 minutes for the first time in her career.
In the men’s race, Tom Mortimer (Christopher Brown; Stroud) edged out Phil Sesemann (Andrew Henderson; Leeds City) by one second to win in 13:39.

Trafford Open, 3 April
Kirsty Law (Zane Duquemin; Sale Harriers Manchester) moved to 8th on the UK all-time list in the women’s discus as she threw a personal best of 58.82m during the competition in Trafford.
Law’s lifetime best had previously stood at 57.95m, a mark which saw her claim the British title last September. However, in perfect conditions in the north-west of the UK, the Scottish athlete improved on that distance and moved from 11th to 8th in the rankings.
Elsewhere, Lawrence Okoye (John Hillier; Croydon) threw a season best of 65.21m, his best mark since 2012. Five-time Paralympic medallist Dan Greaves (self-coached; Charnwood) also opened up his season with 59.75m which was his best ever season opener.

Pure Athletics Spring Invitational, Clermont, Florida, 4 April
Nethaneel Mitchell-Blake (Lance Brauman; Newham & Essex Beagles) opened his season with a time of 10.28 (1.0) over 100m, finishing third behind winner Fred Kerley (USA).
Meanwhile Matthew Hudson-Smith (Lance Brauman; Birchfield) ran 45.51 to win his 400m race.

USTAF Sprint Summit, Prairie View, Texas, 3 April
European Indoor silver medallist Cindy Sember (Jeff Porter; Woodford Green Essex Ladies) began her outdoor season by clocking 13.02 (-1.4) for a commanding win the 100m hurdles. Tiffany Porter (Jeff Porter; Woodford Green Essex Ladies), also a medallist in Torun, was third in 13.23.
In the men’s 100m, Danny Talbot (Vince Anderson; Birchfield) ran 10.70 (-0.1).

Florida Relays, Gainesville, Florida
Temi Ojora (Daniel Sawyers; Windsor Slough Eton and Hounslow) continued her fine progression in the women’s triple jump to score a PB of 13.16m in the triple jump and move to the top of the 2021 UK rankings at this early stage in the season.
Over 400m, Nicole Yeargin (USC) continued her strong indoor form to clock 52.09 which is a career best.

Battle of the Bayou, Baton Rouge, LA, 3 April
Jake Norris (Paul Dickenson; WSEH) threw his furthest mark in the men’s hammer in three years, as he achieved a European U23 qualifier in the process. The mark measured at 72.31m.

Stanford Invitational, Palo Alto, 2-3 April
Charles Hicks (Shaftesbury Barnet) was in outstanding form as he won men’s 10,000m race in Stanford in a time of 28:25.29, which also doubled as a qualifying standard for the European U23 Championships.
