Valencia Half Marathon, Sunday 23 October
Emile Cairess (coach: Alan Storey, club: Leeds) moved to fourth on the UK all-time list over 10km as he clocked a time of 60:32 in Spain. He was 12th overall in the race, and now sits behind only Mo Farah, Callum Hawkins and Jake Smith on the list.
His previous best was set in Ghent earlier this year, a time of 61:16, so this was a significant improvement for the Yorkshire athlete.
Samantha Harrison (Vince Wilson, Charnwood) was the first British woman across the line in a time of 69:36.
Leeds Abbey Dash, Sunday 23 October
Jess Warner-Judd (Mick Judd, Blackburn) and Andrew Milligan (North Belfast) triumphed on a wet morning at the Leeds Abbey Dash.
Warner-Judd clocked a chip time of 32:18 to comfortably win the senior women’s race ahead of Atsede Gidey and Lucy Reid (Richard Owen, Tonbridge) who posted times of 32:34 and 32:35 respectively.
Milligan won the senior men’s race by two seconds ahead of Timothy Lefroy (Bristol & West) in 29:22.
Lindsay’s National Cross Country Relays, Scotland, Saturday 22 October
The team of Constance Nankivell (Mark Nixon), Alice Goodall (Nixon), Sarah Calvert (Lewis Walker) and Megan Keith (Ross Cairns) saw Edinburgh University Hare and Hounds take the senior women’s crown ahead of Fife and Shettleston Harriers.
Meanwhile, Central AC ‘B’ won the battle against Inverness to secure the senior men’s title, with Central AC ‘A’ in third place. Luca Fanottoli, Cameron Milne, Tom Graham-Marr (Michael Wright) and Kieran Reilly (Mark Hookway) all contributed to the victory.
Northern Athletics Cross Country Relays, Sheffield, Saturday 22 October
City of York and Hallamshire Harriers were among the winners in South Yorkshire at the Cross Country Relays.
City of York triumphed in the senior men’s Relays, winning by over a minute ahead of Hallamshire Harriers, with Leeds City claimed the final podium place.
The team of Angus McMillan (Don McMillan) James Tucker (McMillan), Alex Botterill (Steve Cram) and Sam Dickinson were the successful quartet with McMillan clocking the fastest leg of the day overall with a time of 9:55 around the Graves Park course.
Hallamshire Harriers came back to win the senior women’s race ahead of Lincoln Wellington and Vale Royal AC. Hallamshire entered the final lap in fifth place overall as Lincoln led, but a superb final lap from Lauren McNeil – the fastest of the day for the senior women – saw them take the title. McNeil, Laura Robertson and Nicola Squires were the trio who took the win.
South of England Cross Country Relays, Wormwood Scrubs, Saturday 22 October
Aldershot Farnham and District and Windsor Slough Eton and Hounslow won the senior women’s and senior men’s titles at the South of England Cross Country Relays.
The trio of Lauren Hall (Tim Eglen), Millie Jordan-Lee (Mick Woods) and Maddie Jordan-Lee (Woods) sealed victory for the senior women ahead of Thames Valley and Herne Hill.
WSEH – with the quartet of Hugo Donovan, Alex Tovey, Simon Millett (Conrad Milton) and Tom Bains (Andrew Henderson) – were crowned senior men’s winners ahead of Chiltern Harriers and Thames Valley Harriers.
Midland Counties Cross Country Relays, Wolverhampton, Saturday 22 October
Bristol and West secured the senior men’s title and Birmingham Running and Triathlon Club (BRAT) won the senior women’s team title in the West Midlands.
