England Athletics U20 / U23 Championships, Bedford, 19-20 June

At the England Athletics Championships, several athletes confirmed their places on the teams for the European U20 and European U23 Championships. See below the England Athletics reports for both days.

Memorial of Janusz Kusociński, Chorzow, Poland, 20 June

Jamie Webb (Adrian Webb, Liverpool) produced the best 800m time of his career to date as he clocked 1:44.14 for second place in a rapid race in Poland.

His compatriot, Elliot Giles(Jon Bigg, Birchfield) recorded an outdoor PB of 1:44.20 for third place, while eventual winner Patryk Dobek of Poland won in a very quick time of 1:43.73.

In the high jump, there was another 1.90m for Emily Borthwick (Fuzz Caan, Wigan & District) as she bagged third place. It continued her consistent run of clearances over the height in the last month.

Erin Wallace (Andy Young, Giffnock North) was seventh in the women’s 1500m as she ran a time of 4:08.97.

Kladno hází a Kladenské memorial, Czech Republic, Tuesday 15 June

There was a second PB inside a week for Ama Pipi (Linford Christie, Enfield and Haringey) as she clocked a time of 51.08 to win the women’s 400m race in Kladno. The time was also inside the Olympic qualifying standard and moves her to third in the UK standings this year.

Elsewhere, there was a PB for Archie Davis (Joel Kidger, Brighton Phoenix) in the men’s 1500m as he crossed the line in 3:38.46 for fourth place.
