VENUES CONFIRMED FOR NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS IN 2024 AND 2025

UK Athletics can confirm the 2024 UK Athletics Championships will take place in Manchester at the Manchester Regional Arena on Saturday 29 and Sunday 30 June 2024, with Birmingham hosting the 2025 UK Athletics Indoor and Outdoor Championships in 2025.

The 2024 edition of the Outdoor Championships makes a return to the northwest, having hosted the event since 2020, and the event will serve as the highly-anticipated Trials for the Olympic Games with athletes vying for places on the team heading to Paris in July and August, as well as a number of GB & NI’s leading para athletes preparing for the Paralympic Games, so it is an event not to be missed.

With prestigious national titles also on the line, it will be another highly entertaining fixture in the athletics summer season, with the UK’s best athletes heading to the city in late June.

In 2025, the national Championships – indoor and outdoor editions – will take place in Birmingham. The 2024 Indoor Championships were held in the Utilita Arena and will return their next year, while the Outdoor Championships will be hosted at the Alexander Stadium in the summer of 2025 and the event will serve as the official Trial ahead of the 2025 World Athletics Championships in Tokyo.

Strategic Lead for Major Events and International Relations at UK Athletics, Cherry Alexander said, “We are delighted to be working with a number of key stakeholders to host our Major Events Series in the years ahead. We are coming off the back of hosting a superb World Athletics Indoor Championships in Glasgow, so we are delighted athletics fans will be able to watch our key events in various locations over the next 18 months and beyond.

“We are pleased to be working with our stakeholders in Manchester to host the UK Athletics Championships once again this year. The Championships are always a special event for athletes, coaches, Clubs and everyone involved in the sport, so we cannot wait to bring high-quality athletics back to the north of England in the summer of 2024.”

“It is brilliant to be hosting the indoor and outdoor Championships in Birmingham in 2025 as we prepare to host the European Championships 2026 at the venue. Alongside the Wanda Diamond League event in London, we have several superb venues to host world class athletics in the UK.”

Neil Fairlamb, Manchester City Council’s Strategic Director Neighbourhoods said: “We are delighted to announce the return of the UK Athletics Championships to Manchester this summer. It will be yet another weekend of electrifying competition and unforgettable athletics action at the Manchester Regional Arena ahead of the upcoming Olympic and Paralympic Games later this summer.

“We look forward to witnessing the stars of tomorrow and established champions, as they inspire the next generation of athletes in Manchester before Birmingham takes the reins in 2025.”

Craig Cooper, Strategic Director of City Operations, Birmingham City Council, said, “Birmingham is of course disappointed not to be hosting this year’s UKA Championships, but we are delighted that they will return to Alexander Stadium in 2025. Those Championships will be important milestones as we prepare to host the European Athletics Championships in August 2026.

“Birmingham and its visitors have already enjoyed top class athletics in February this year when the UKA Indoor Championships were hosted at the Utilita Arena Birmingham. And this remains a firm fixture in the annual Birmingham events calendar. We wish all the athletes competing in June the very best of luck especially if they are seeking qualification for selection to the Olympic Games in Paris this summer.”
