THE STAGE IS SET FOR STOCKHOLM DIAMOND LEAGUE

The IAAF Diamond League in Stockholm is set to be a sizzler with 14 Britons in action on Sunday 10 June.

Fresh from her British record of 10.92 on Thursday night in Oslo, Dina Asher-Smith (coach: John Blackie) goes over 100m looking to continue her stunning recent form. The 200m Commonwealth bronze medallist will once again take on Murielle Ahoure (CIV) who won the Oslo race, so it is set to be another cracker.

Second in Eugene over 1500m, a 1:59.09 clocking on Thursday over 800m, and Laura Muir (Andy Young) will look for another solid display in Stockholm, again over 1500m. Fellow Briton Laura Weightman (Steve Cram) continues her return to 1500m, and they will be joined by world silver medallist Jenny Simpson (USA) as well as fellow sub four-minute athlete based on season bests this year, Rababe Arafi (MAR).

After his quickest 800m since the 2013 world championships final – a time of 1.45.09 – in Hengelo last week, Andrew Osagie (Mark Rowland) goes over the unique 1000m distance on this occasion on a wave of confidence. Jake Wightman (Geoff Wightman) also goes in this one.

Commonwealth champion Morgan Lake (Fuzz Caan) competes for the first time in over a month, joining the world’s best in this competition, including double world outdoor and indoor champion, Maria Lasitskene (ANA).

Lorraine Ugen (Shawn Jackson) is in long jump action alongside world indoor champion Ivana Spanovic (SER), Olympic champion Tianna Bartoletta (USA) and also current world lead Malaika Mihambo (GER), whose best has been 6.99m this year.

The men’s 200m has been red hot during the Diamond League series so far and that looks set to continue on Sunday. Nethaneel Mitchell-Blake has finished fifth at two Diamond League’s this year in Doha and Eugene. He goes in this one alongside world champion Ramil Guliyev (AZE) who won in Oslo, and Steven Gardiner (BAH) who has been in fine form over 200m and 400m this season.

In the 400m hurdles, Seb Rodger (Stephen King) and Jack Green (June Plews) face one of the in-form athletes in international athletics at the moment, Abderrahman Samba (QAT) – winner in Oslo and Doha – as well as world champion Karsten Warholm.

In the non-diamond race event, the new Scottish 200m record holder Beth Dobbin (Leon Baptiste) goes alongside Anyika Onuora (Rana Reider) over the distance. Elsewhere, Lynsey Sharp (Terrance Mahon) and Shelayna Oskan-Clarke (Jon Bigg) compete in the women’s 800m and Jamie Webb (Adrian Webb) goes in the men’s 800m.

The Stockholm Diamond League will be on the Eurosport Player between 15:00-17:00 (played in full from 18:15 on Eurosport 2) on Sunday 10 June. Highlights will be available on BBC between 23:45-00:45 on Sunday, repeated on Monday 11June from 17:50 on BBC Red Button.
