SPORTSAID WEEK 2018 AND #MYMILES CAMPAIGN RETURNS

You can make a real difference to the future of British sport by supporting SportsAid Week 2018 this September.

SportsAid is a British charity that helps over 1,000 young athletes, predominantly aged 12 – 18 across over 60 sports each year, providing them with financial support for training and competition with an average award of £1,000.

SportsAid week 2018 takes place between Monday 24 September until Sunday 30 September and is a fundraising drive designed to support the country’s brightest sporting prospects as they strive to represent the British team at future Olympic and Paralympic Games.

The week will see Olympians, Paralympians, National Governing Bodies (NGBs), schools, universities, commercial organisations and individuals rallying together to give their backing to the next generation of athletes.

Athletes that have benefited from SportsAid support in the past include European Champion and British 100m & 200m record holder, Dina Asher-Smith, 2018 Commonwealth Games 20km race walk silver medallist, Tom Bosworth, and Gold Coast 2018 & World U20 Championship heptathlon gold medallist, Niamh Emerson.

Some of those currently benefiting from SportsAid funding include 2018 European U18 Championship high jump gold medallist Dominic Ogbechie and 2018 World U20 Championships double-bronze medallist, Kristal Awuah.

SportsAid’s #MyMiles challenge is also returning for 2018.. The social media campaign will once again ask fundraisers to undertake physical activity, covering a distance of their choice, to support the country’s brightest sporting prospects and help raise money towards the SportsAid Week total.

Participants must post a video or photo on social media upon completion, including the distance covered, tagging SportsAid’s social media channels and using #MyMiles before nominating another athlete to continue the chain.
