OJIE EDOBURUN LOWERS PERSONAL BEST IN PRAGUE

There was a belated birthday present for British sprinter Ojie Edoburun (coach: Steve Fudge) as he ran his quickest ever 100m to finish second at the European Athletics Classics Meeting in Prague, Czech Republic, on Monday (4 June).

The 2015 European junior gold medallist celebrated his 22nd birthday on Saturday, and two days later, the celebrations continued as he crossed the line in a time of 10.04 to lower his previous personal best by 0.08 seconds.

Edoburun finished second, four places ahead of Harry Aikines-Aryeetey (Benke Blomkvist), who set a season’s best time of 10.18.

Pole vaulter Adam Hague (Trever Fox) also set a season’s best as he finished second in the men’s pole vault with a height of 5.55m.

Charles Da’Vall Grice (Jon Bigg) finished second in the men’s 1500m (3:35.88), while there was also a podium finish for Dwayne Cowan (Lloyd Cowan) who finished third in the men’s 400m in a time of 46.18.

Dai Greene (Benke Blomkvist) and Niall Flannery (Matt Elias) finished fifth and sixth respectively in the 400m hurdles, with the latter setting a season’s best time of 50.14.

In the women’s equivalent, Jessica Turner (Nick Dakin) finished sixth (57.26), while the women’s 800m saw Alexandra Bell (Andrew Henderson) finish third (2:02.98), three places ahead of Adelle Tracey (Craig Winrow, 2:03.68).
