NINE BRITS CHOSEN FOR CONTINENTAL CUP

Nine British athletes have been chosen as part of the European team for the IAAF Continental Cup in Ostrava from 8-9 September.

Dina Asher-Smith (coach: John Blackie) and Matthew Hudson-Smith (Lance Brauman) are two of four British European champions from Berlin to be confirmed on the 75-strong team.

Asher-Smith will contest the 100m in the Czech Republic as well as the 4x100m relay alongside fellow European champions Imani-Lara Lansiquot (Steve Fudge) and Bianca Williams (Lloyd Cowan).

Hudson-Smith will also double up in the 400m and mixed 4x400m relay while Nethaneel Mitchell-Blake (Dennis Shaver), a gold medallist in the 4x100m relay in Berlin, will run over the 200m in which he won silver.

Long jumper Shara Proctor (Rana Reider) and 400m hurdler Meghan Beesley (Michael Baker), both European bronze medallists from last month, complete the five British athletes selected to compete individually.

Asher-Smith, Lansiquot and Williams are part of a five-strong, all-British 4x100m relay squad for Ostrava with Ashleigh Nelson (Michael Afilaka) and Kristal Awuah (Matthew Thomas), who won double world junior bronze earlier this summer, the additional two members.

All nine Brits form part of a 75-strong European outfit set to compete with Africa, the Americas and Asia-Pacific teams for points and individual prizes in Ostrava.
