MY CHRISTMAS - DANNY TALBOT

On Christmas Eve, we continues our series with athletes revealing their plans for Christmas 2017 with World 4x100m gold medallist Danny Talbot…

What is the best Christmas present you ever received?

Probably my X-box which I still use to this day!  I also enjoy jokey presents!

A childhood memory of Christmas

I have so many good memories of Christmas days – waking up with the family, enjoying good food, and playing games.

Who will you spend Christmas 2017 with?

I am based in Loughborough but my family are from Trowbridge and my girlfriend, Meron’s family are in Bristol so we’re going to do two Christmases in one day!

What will the day be like?

Christmas day will be a nice family time, which I value much more now that I live 3 hours away and only get a few days in the year at home.  My sister got married this year and she’ll be there with her husband, which will be really nice.

Will you train on Christmas Day?

Not on Christmas Day. My coach likes us to be relaxed over Christmas so we have Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and Boxing Day off.  Then back to Loughborough and in training on 27th.

How do you balance family Christmas with not over-indulging?

I spend all the year eating really well so one day will be OK. Also I will just have returned from a training camp with the group where we will be eating clean.

What does Christmas mean to you?

It’s about spending time with the family now that I am living “up north” – you have to understand that if you are from Trowbridge everywhere is “up north”!
