HIGHGATE READY TO ROCK AS BUILD UP TO 2023 NIGHT OF 10,000M PBS COMMENCES

The Highgate Harriers Night of the 10,000m PBs will once again take over the Parliament Hill Athletics Track* on Saturday 20th May incorporating the UK 10,000m Championships. The popular event will also double as the UK Athletics 10,000m trial race for the World Championships and European 10,000m Cup.

Free for spectators, it again promises to be another evening of zany off-track circus entertainment, thumping music and of course high quality open races featuring athletes from around the world. Next month’s event is also giving athletes a few more reasons to toe the line – 30,000 in fact – with a substantial prize fund on offer for the top athletes (1st £6k, 2nd £3k, 3rd £1k male and female) as well as a potential bonus of £5k to forbreaking the meeting records. (Men’s 27:16.18 & Women’s 31:08.13)

And the all new, double length 60m back straight ‘lactic tunnel of love’ will ensure an even more rowdy atmosphere via the annual #Lane3BeerNCheer.

Race Organiser Ben Pochee said: “We can’t wait to welcome athletes and spectators on May 20th.  Each year our community gathers to create unique atmosphere and improbable tall tales of athleticism and born from this are memories for a lifetime.

“So, bring your club flags, get creative with your DIY placards, practice using your noise makers, because it’s time to celebrate our sport together!”

UKA’s Strategic Lead for Major Events Cherry Alexander said: “We’re so excited to once again be partnering with Ben and his team to support the Night of 10k PBs!

“The atmosphere at Highgate ensures our athletes have the best possible opportunity to run fast and each year the event continues to innovate, improve and entertain. We saw some cracking races on a scorching May evening last year and it will be exciting to see who will come through for those top spots and team places.”
