4th June 2021

There have been two changes to the British team for the European 10,000m Cup with Samantha Harrison (coach: Vince Wilson, club: Charnwood) and Matt Leach (Philip O’Dell, Bedford & County) both called-in to the women’s and men’s teams respectively.

Harrison competed for the British team at last year’s World Athletics Half Marathon Championships in Gydnia, Poland, finishing 47th.  With a 10km PB of 32:31, this will be her first 10,000m race on the track. She replaces Lily Partridge in the British team.

Leach has already posted a time of 28:41.24 over 10,000m this season, clocking his PB in Irvine, California last month. He comes in for Sam Atkin in the men’s team.

At the event at the University of Birmingham, Great Britain and Northern Ireland will contest for team medals in both events at the European 10,000m Cup, which will be integrated into the A races on the day which will incorporate the Müller British Athletics 10,000m Championships and Trial.
