DIAMOND LEAGUE HEADS TO SHANGHAI WITH BRADSHAW & PRESCOD AMONG THE BRITS IN ACTION

Four British athletes will compete in the second IAAF Diamond League of the season as the series moves to Shanghai in China on Saturday 18 May.

Holly Bradshaw (Scott Simpson; Blackburn Harriers) makes Shanghai the first stop in her outdoor season, as she competes in the pole vault. Following a training camp in Japan – the hosts of next year’s Olympic Games – she will face a stacked field including Olympic champion Katerina Stefanidi (GRE) and World Indoor champion Sandi Morris (USA) in China.

It follows a strong indoor season for the Loughborough-based athlete who won European Indoor silver in Glasgow and cleared 4.81m at the Muller Indoor Grand Prix Birmingham in February.

Victorious at this meeting in 2018, Reece Prescod (Jonas Dodoo; Enfield & Haringey) returns over 100m with eyes on another impressive Diamond League showing in China. He narrowly pipped home favourite Bingtian Su (CHN) to the win from the outside lane last year, and lines up against him once more. Double world silver medallist Christian Coleman (USA) and seven-time Diamond League meeting winner Noah Lyles (USA) also line up over the sprint.

On the track, Andrew Pozzi (Santiago Antunez; Stratford-upon-Avon) competes outdoors for the first time in 2019, facing the 110m Hurdles in the Shanghai Stadium. He will take on a field which includes Olympic champion Omar McLeod (JAM) and reigning world champion Sergey Shubenkov (ANA).

In the non-Diamond League 200m, Nethaneel Mitchell-Blake (Lance Brauman; Newham & Essex Beagles) goes once more after placing sixth in 20.86 in Doha a fortnight ago. Since then, the European silver medallist has won bronze as part of the men’s 4x100m squad at the IAAF World Relays in Yokohama last week.
