COCKROFT AND WEIR AMONG THOSE IN ACTION AT NOTTWIL GRAND PRIX

Hannah Cockroft (coach: Jenni Banks, club: Leeds) and David Weir (Jenny Archer, Weir Archer Academy) are among the athletes who will be in action at the World Para Athletics Grand Prix in Nottwil, Switzerland between the 14-16 May.

Following world record times in the T34 400m and 800m at the Coventry Spring Meet a couple of weeks ago, Cockroft will be using the event to sharpen up for another busy summer with the Tokyo Paralympic Games on the horizon. She will compete in 100m and 800m at the Swiss meet.

Six-time Paralympic champion David Weir will be back in track action as he competes in the T54 800m, 1500m and 5000m against some of the best wheelchair racers in the world.

Two-time world bronze medallist Richard Chiassaro (Jenni Banks, Harlow) will join him in the 800m and 1500m but will also take on the 400m which has earned him global success in 2017 and 2019.

European medallists Nathan Maguire (Ste Hoskins, Kirkby AC) and Dillon Labrooy (Jenny Archer, Weir Archer Academy) will also be involved in the T54 races across the long weekend.

Two-time world champion Sammi Kinghorn (Rodger Harkins, Red Star) has also prioritised this competition in Nottwil as she continues her preparations for Tokyo. The T53 athlete will race over distances from 100m and 1500m over the three days.

Mo Jomni (Jenny Archer, Weir Archer Academy) will be racing in the T53 100m, 200m and 400m while Ben Rowlings (Coventry) will take on the 100m, 400m and 800m in the T34 classification.
