Six Brits set for Stockholm

Just three days on from a successful Diamond League meeting in Oslo, six British athletes are all set for the next leg of the Diamond Tour, which takes place at the Stockholm Olympic Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

After a fine second place finish and 45.16 clocking in Oslo, Matthew Hudson-Smith (coach: Tony Hadley) swaps Scandinavian countries for another outing over the one lap event. The Olympic finalist will be full of confidence after Thursday’s run, and will look to get the better of Baboloki Thebe this time out. Also in the line-up is fellow Briton Rabah Yousif (Carol Williams), who will look to improve on his 45.76 in his first Diamond League of the year.

Fifth in Oslo, Adam Gemili (Rana Reider) again goes in the 100m, hoping to improve on his 10.13 run, whilst Lynsey Sharp (Terrance Mahon) will look to build on her season’s best run of 2.00.41 in the women’s two lap event. Only eighth in Olso, she’ll be hoping to break two minutes for the first time in 2017 and finish higher up the field.

In the hurdles events both Andrew Pozzi (Benke Blomkvist) and Jack Green (self-coached) are in action. Pozzi has made a good start to the outdoor season with fourth and fifth places finishes in Rome and Eugene respectively; he’ll be eyeing a time inside 13.19, his personal best equalling run at the Prefontaine Classic in Eugene. Meanwhile like Pozzi Green tops the Power of 10 rankings but for the one lap event courtesy of a 49.10 season’s best just ten days ago. With surprises galore in Oslo, the Kent AC man will be hoping to be in the mix at the sharp end of the race.

You can watch highlights of the event just after its conclusion on Eurosport 1, 18.30 to 20.30.
