Charnwood AC Open Series, Loughborough, 24 August
Libby Clegg (Joe McDonnell; Charnwood) returned to the track for the first time following the birth of her son, Edward, racing over 200m on home ground in Loughborough. The double Paralympic champion ran 29.64 (-1.0) in her first outing since July last year. She competes again at the World Para Athletics Grand Prix in Paris this week.
Also on the track, Richard Whitehead (Keith Antoine; Southwell) raced over 100m and 200m, clocking times of 12.79 (-0.2) and 23.83 (+0.9) respectively. In the high jump, Jonathan Broom-Edwards (Graham Ravenscroft; Newham & Essex Beagles) continued his return to competition with a clearance of 2.05 metres which was a season best.
Scottish Athletics Throws Grand Prix, Livingston, 24 August
Stephen Miller (Ros Miller; Gateshead) threw a best of 28.57m in the club throw in Scotland during a frustrating competition for the North East man.
Kirkcaldy Parks Half Marathon, 25 August
In his home town, World Para Athletics marathon silver medallist, Derek Rae (Ron Morrison; Fife) won the half marathon in a decent time of 70:23 in his first race since June.
Cardiff Throws Open, 20 August
Prior to making his debut appearance at the British Championships at the weekend, James Tomlinson (Paul Jensen; Pembrokeshire) added another 1.40m onto his personal best to break the Welsh Under-20 discus record and move sixth on the all-time British U20 list.
The previous record of 60.46m had been held by Brett Morse since 2008 but Tomlinson’s effort comfortably surpassed his mark and moves him up to fourth in Europe this year.
