ADKIN AND STEWARD AMONG THOSE HEADING TO CHALLENGE STELLINA MOUNTAIN RACE

Strong Great Britain and Northern Ireland teams have been selected for the Challenge Stellina Mountain Race on 27 August.

Scout Adkin (coach: Angela Mudge, club: Ambleside) and Joe Steward (Salford) lead the line for GB & NI having both finished in eighth position and top British finishers in the vertical race at the World Mountain and Trail Running Championships in Innsbruck back in June.

Jacob Adkin (Robbie Simpson, Keswick), who won the European Championships on an uphill course in 2019, has had some good results this year and will be looking to finish at the front end of the race.

Sara Willhoit (Colin Livingstone, Shrewsbury) and Phillipa Williams (Dark Peak) were part of the bronze medal-winning GB & NI team in the vertical race at the 2023 World Championships, and along with Scout Adkin and Ruth Jones (Duncan Mason, Salford), who is coming back into good form, should challenge for the top team position.
