2018-19 BRITISH ATHLETICS WORLD CLASS PROGRAMME UPDATE

British Athletics have today announced that an additional athlete has been offered membership to its World Class Programme for 2018/19.

David Weir (coach: Jenny Archer, club: Weir Archer Academy) has been added to the Paralympic World Class Programme for 2019 and will join the Podium Potential section after revealing earlier this Autumn that he is targeting the 2020 Paralympic Games marathon in Tokyo.

Para Athletics Head Coach, Paula Dunn, added:

“We are delighted to see him join the British Athletics World Class Programme. David is one of our finest ever athletes and I am delighted he has set his ambitions to target the marathon at the Tokyo Paralympic Games. We will support him as he aims to achieve those goals.”

Additionally, Ojie Edoburun (Steve Fudge; Shaftesbury Barnet) has turned down his offer of membership.
