ATHLETES ALL SET FOR THE UK ATHLETICS 10,000M CHAMPIONSHIPS IN LOUGHBOROUGH

The UK Athletics 10,000m Championships return to the Paula Radcliffe Stadium in Loughborough on Saturday 17 May, following the Loughborough International Athletics Meet earlier in the day.

National titles are on the line, with athletes also aiming for places on the Novuna GB & NI team for this summer’s European Championships in Birmingham.

With strong domestic fields supported by a competitive group of international guests, the evening promises high‑quality championship racing. Gates open free of charge from 18:00, with the women’s race scheduled for 19:30 and the men’s race at 20:15.

In the men’s race, defending champion Emile Cairess (Leeds city) returns to contest his UK 10,000m title. He will be joined by Bath Half Marathon winner Joe Wigfield (Wirral AC, Criag Winrow) and UKA Inter‑Counties Cross Country Champion James Kingston, both of whom are expected to challenge for the podium. Hugo Milner (Derby), the senior men’s National Cross Country champion from Sedgefield earlier this year, also steps back onto the track as he continues his strong 2025 campaign.

Adding further depth to the field are two leading Danish athletes: Joel Ibler Lilleso, the 2025 European U23 10,000m champion, and Jacob Sommer Simonsen, the Danish marathon record holder.

The women’s race brings together several of Britain’s top endurance athletes, including Izzy Fry (Sonia McGeorge, Newbury), captain of the 2025 European Cross Country Championships team, and her GB teammate Poppy Tank (Luke Gunn, City of Plymouth), who helped secure team silver in Portugal. Clara Evans‑Graham (Chris Jones, Pontypridd) and Lily Partridge (Birchfield Harriers) also line up shortly after pacing duties at the London Marathon, bringing significant road racing experience to the track.

International interest comes from Maor Tiyouri, who finished fourth in the marathon at the 2025 European Running Championships, and Eva Dieterich, the 10km silver medallist at the same event and the fourth‑fastest German woman in history over the distance.

Fans across the country can follow all the action live on British Athletics TV on YouTube.
