CELEBRATING UK TECHNICAL OFFICIAL ON THE GLOBAL STAGE

British athletics continues to be represented with distinction around the world — not only by our athletes and coaches, but also by the outstanding technical officials who help deliver the sport at the highest level.

It was not so long ago that the number of UK representatives serving as Technical Delegates, International Technical Officials, or members of the (then) IAAF Technical Committee could be counted on one hand. Today, that picture looks very different.

Across track and field, road, race walking, and ultra-distance events, UK officials now hold a broad range of international qualifications — including Gold, Silver, and Bronze Referees, as well as certified International Course Measurers. Their presence at global championships and major meetings underlines the professionalism, expertise, and respect earned by UK officials throughout the sport.

This year alone, members of the UK panel have taken on senior roles at some of the world’s most prestigious events — from serving as Competition Director at the World Athletics Championships in Tokyo to acting as Technical Delegate at the World Para Athletics Championships in New Delhi.

These achievements reflect many years of dedication, study, and assessment — supported by UK Athletics’ ongoing investment in the development of its officiating community.

We extend our warmest congratulations to all involved and thank them for their continued excellence and commitment to the sport.
