Travel Information

Please plan your journey in advance. If you are using public transport please observe all of the safety measures in place.

Travelling by bus

The number 93 bus travels between Gateshead Interchange and the Stadium. The number 94 bus travels between Heworth Interchange and the Stadium.

These services operate every 15 minutes. Gateshead Interchange provides transport links via bus and Metro to all local destinations as well as Newcastle Airport, Newcastle Central Station and Sunderland Train Station.

Travelling by train

The nearest train station is Newcastle Central Station (East Coast Line). Travel from Newcastle Central Station to Gateshead Stadium Metro Station using the Metro.

Gateshead Stadium Metro station is approximately 5 minutes walk from the Stadium. A footpath leads from the Metro station, through St. James Village housing estate to the Stadium.

Travelling by car

From the North:
Follow the A1 Southbound until the turn off for the A184 (Gateshead Town Centre). Keep following the A184 until you come to the stadium on the left hand side.

From the South:
Follow the A1 Northbound, turn off on to the A167 (Gateshead South). Pass the Angel of the North on your left. Follow the road to the centre of Gateshead, take the slip road underneath the flyover. Go straight over the roundabout and then turn right onto the A184 at the next roundabout. Follow the A184 until you come to the stadium on the left hand side.

From the West:
Follow the A69 until you meet the A1. From there follow directions as from the North.

From the East:
Follow the A19 until you reach the Whitemare Pool roundabout. Turn right onto the A184 (Gateshead). Continue onto the A184 over the Heworth roundabout and the stadium is on the right.

Car Parking

There is no onsite parking available at the stadium.

Parking facilities are available at several sites close to the venue. Follow the ‘Event Parking’ signage to Quarryfield Road car park or Heworth Metro Station.

 

Blue Badge Parking is available onsite.

There will be a road closure in place around the stadium so those using the blue badge car park must be parked in it by 4.45pm. On exit you may have to wait for a period of time until it is deemed safe for to you exit the car park.
