BRITISH ATHLETICS ANNOUNCE BP AS EVENT PARTNER FOR MÜLLER ANNIVERSARY GAMES

British Athletics have today announced a partnership with BP who will be supporting the para athletics events as part of the 2018 Müller Anniversary Games.

A long-term supporter of para sport owing to their association with the 2012 Games which began after Beijing 2008, the company is a global partner of International Paralympic Committee, has partnered with the British Paralympic Association for 10 years, and was a partner at last summer’s World Para Athletics Championships London 2017.

BP has also supported para athletes through their long-standing relationship with four-time world and double Paralympic champion Richard Whitehead, and the company also recently announced the signing of new British athlete ambassador Kare Adenegan; the 17-year-old already holding three Paralympic and five world medals.

In joining up as an Events Partner for the 2018 Müller Anniversary Games, BP will support the para athletics events being featured as part of the two-day programme as British Athletics continue to lead the way in promoting para athletes, with BP ambassador Whitehead one athlete who has already been confirmed to compete at July’s event.

Cherry Alexander, Major Events Director at British Athletics, said:

“We are delighted to be working with BP once again as we aim to build on the success of 2017 both on and off the track.

“As demonstrated throughout 2017, there is huge support and enthusiasm from the British public for para athletics, and BP’s support enables us to champion our top para athletes at one of the biggest events of the year.”

Duncan Blake, Director of Brand, BP, said:

“The legacy of the London 2012 Paralympic Games is undoubtedly the enormous growth that para sport has experienced both in Britain and around the world.

“At BP we are once again thrilled to be supporting an event that will not only showcase the very best in British para sport, but that will see these athletes competing alongside their peers in athletics.”
