Q) What should I do if I have obtained the qualifying standard, but my name is not among the list of invitees?

A) Please contact championships@britishathletics.org.uk

 

Q) What should I do if I am among the list of invitees for the Novuna UK Athletics Championships, but have not received an invitation?

A) Please contact championships@britishathletics.org.uk as your contact details might not be up to date on the UK Athletics database.

 

Q) Should I enquire about an invitation if I am very close to the standard?

A) No, If a particular event incurs a number of withdrawals, it can become necessary to supplement non-qualifiers. In this scenario the best “non-automatic qualifier” at that moment in time will be given first option and thereafter in descending order from this year’s Power of 10 year ranking lists.

 

Q) What is the closing date for accepting invitations to the Novuna UK Athletics Championships?

A) The deadline for accepting your invitation is 23:59 (BST) Sunday 7 June 2026

 

Q) When will I see a timetable for the Novuna UK Athletics Championships?

A) We anticipate it will be available on the British Athletics website approximately one month before the event.

 

Q) When will a full competitors list be available?

A) A list of invitees will be published in June; however, it will be subject to change as athletes newly qualify or decline their invitation. Athletes must accept their invitation to be confirmed in the Championships. The deadline for accepting your invitation is 23:59 (BST) Sunday 7 June 2026.

 

Q) What is the provision for Athlete tickets?

A) All athletes who accept their invitation to compete will receive a link with a unique promotional code for two complimentary tickets (subject to availability) to the day you are competing for your friends and family. You will also be able to purchase additional tickets.

Further ticket information will be made available on receipt of an athlete’s acceptance to compete.

 

Q) Will the Novuna UK Athletics Championships be broadcast?

A) Yes, further information with regards to this will be made available closer to the Championships.

 

Q) What competition wear am I expected to compete in?

A) As this event is the UK Championships, athletes MUST wear the current vest of their first claim affiliated Club, County or their Regional or current National sponsor vest. The club concerned must be the one which in terms of Rule 2 (6) caters for that particular discipline of athletics. There will be no exceptions.

 

Q) Is the UK Athletics Championships an Open or Closed Championship?

A) The UK Athletics Championships is a Closed Championships so only athletes eligible to compete for Great Britain & Northern Ireland can compete.

 

Q) What date is the qualification process for the 800m & 1500m?

A) This year’s 800m & 1500m races will have a maximum quota of 36 in each event. Athletes who have run the stated Auto standard or faster within the stated qualifying window will receive an automatic invitation.

 

Remaining athletes outside the Auto standard but inside the minimum standard will be invited according to their Power of 10 ranking position based on their best time in eligible competitions between the stated qualifying window to fill the maximum quota stated.

 

If an automatic qualifier declines their invitation their place will be rolled down to the next athlete in the Power of 10 rankings as per 23:59 (BST) Sunday 7 June 2026

Wild Cards – two wildcards are reserved which can be given at the sole discretion of the Performance Director and World Class Programme Endurance Lead. Wild cards will only be available to top 3 ranked athletes in other events or 2024-2026 global medallists and used in exceptional circumstances. Unused wildcards will be rolled down to the next athlete in the event rankings to fill the maximum quota of 36.

 

Q) What date is the Declaration Date?

A) For those athletes that have accepted their invitation to compete (prior to the closing date) in two or more events, you must declare by 23:59 (BST) on Tuesday 16 June 2026 as to which events you intend to compete in at the Championships.

 

OTHER INFORMATION

Invitations to compete at the UK Athletics Championships are sent to senior and under 20 athletes only. In exceptional circumstance athletes from the Under 18 age group will also be accepted via agreement with Performance Pathway manager (Dan Wagner).

Certain athletes will have qualified in two (or more) events and may only see their name listed in one. This is because we offer you what is assumed to be your preferred event but we are agreeable to switch or add you to another if you so wish.

Only results achieved in UKA Level 2 licenced / World Athletics permitted meets will be accepted.
