Entry Eligibility 2021

Following on from the notification announcing that the British Athletics Indoor Championships will be held on 20th & 21st February 2021 at Emirates Arena, Glasgow please find below the criteria in order to compete at the Championships.

Due to an unprecedented 2020, there are no qualifying standards and invitations are all based on athletes -meeting the “elite athlete criteria” agreed with DCMS and issued in guidance

British Athletics is of course following all Government advice and guidelines to ensure the safety of those involved and engaging in our sport and we continue to work closely with all our stakeholders to get to the best possible solutions.

The official invitation letters will be sent out on 23rd December to athletes who are currently eligible as per the outlined criteria.

To receive an invitation athlete must fulfil one of the following*:

  • Be receiving Funding – either World Class or Futures
  • Be on the Olympic long list (as of December 1st, 2020)
  • A member of the 2019 Doha team

  • Hold a World Athletics ranking quota place (as of December 1st, 2020)
  • Be on the Home countries Commonwealth Games 2022 long list

Athletes must also be eligible to compete for GB&NI (i.e., full British passport holder).

*The Head coach in conjunction with the Performance oversight group can at its discretion, in exceptional circumstances add athletes to elite athlete status if it is felt that they are in contention for selection to the European Indoor Championship team.
