- Delivering World Class Performance
- Increasing Worldwide Impact
- Ensuring World Class Standards
UK Sport (UKS) is the principal funder of the UK Athletics World Class Performance Programme. The primary UKS goal is to support and deliver UK success at the Olympics and Paralympics, through investing in the National Governing Bodies of Sport to support athletes capable of delivering medal-winning performances.
They supplement this direct investment in athletes and sports by providing professional development programmes for all key support service providers (coaches, scientists and medics) and investing in cutting – edge technological developments capable of producing the fractional improvements in performance required to succeed in world class competition.
UK Sport is also responsible for increasing World Wide Impact, through developing the UK’s sporting influence internationally by bidding for and hosting major events and delivering an International Development Assistance Programme which utilises sport as a vehicle for promoting human and social development.
In addition to their role as the UK’s national anti-doping agency, UKS works with athletes and sports bodies to promote the highest standards of sporting conduct, including leading research into the ‘value of sport’ in society and promoting the equality and diversity agenda for sport in the UK.
