Craig Boardman in top three for SportsAid Award

SportsAid’s One-to-Watch Award shortlist has now been reduced to a final three with wheelchair racer Craig Boardman competing against rower Holly Dunford and BMX cyclist Beth Shriever to compete for this year’s crown. The winner will be revealed at the charity’s annual SportsBall in London ‪next Thursday (23 November).

Boardman – who was offered membership to World Class Programme Podium Potential funding last week for the first time – won gold in the T34 100m, 200m and 400m races at the inaugural World Para Athletics Junior Championships in Switzerland three months ago, setting a new European 100m record of 15.25 seconds in the process.

All three athletes have been supported by SportsAid after a shortlist of 10 was released last week. Each year, athletes are nominated by their sport’s governing body on the strength of their talent and potential, demonstrating why the One-to-Watch Award has gained such a strong reputation for identifying the best up-and-coming prospects.
