The IAAF today confirmed the dates for the 2017 World Athletics Championships that will be held in the Olympic Stadium in London.
The nine day competition will begin on Saturday 5 August and finish on Sunday 13 August.
London was awarded the right to stage the Championships last November following a year-long bidding campaign.
Ed Warner, Chair of London 2017 said: “To receive the confirmed dates from the IAAF is fantastic news and we can now begin to implement our plans for the 2017 World Athletics Championships.
“London is already showing the world what a wonderful sporting city it is and by hosting the World Championships in 2017 we will continue the legacy left by the current Olympic Games.
“The IAAF's World Championships provide a great shop window for the sport of athletics and we are extremely excited and proud to be hosting such a prestigious global sporting competition in the UK.
“It is now full steam ahead for the next five years to deliver an outstanding Championships and one that will inspire another generation of young athletes.”
