Would be Young Games Makers are encourage to submit applications to be involved in the London Organising Committee for the Olympic and Paralympic Games (LOCOG) as soon as possible, with the deadline for application Monday 31 October 2011. The programme is open to individuals aged 16-18 years.
LOCOG are looking for up to 50 teams of 16-18 year olds to volunteer in a number of different roles during the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games Athletics competitions, in roles such as Kit Carriers in both Olympics and Paralympics and as Tie-down crews for the Paralympics. Successful applicants will be known as Young Games Makers.
LOCOG are looking to hear from teams at schools, sports clubs, scouts, guides, youth groups or community groups. A team leader (aged over 18 by 1 January 2012) will need to put in an application on behalf of their team/organisation and identify a team of young people (aged 16 by 1 July 2012 and under 18 by 1 January 2012).
