Sainsbury's British Championships | Birmingham Alexander Stadium | 3, 4 & 5 July 2015
With no fewer than 22 finals on the third day of the Sainsbury's British Championships, Chijindu Ujah delivered when it mattered this weekend to win his first British 100m title in a time of 10.10. Dina Asher-Smith continued to set the track alight as she has done all season, scorching to a new championship record of 11.08 (0.5m/s) as she took her first senior British title.
The Olympic, Commonwealth and European champion Greg Rutherford was trailing silver medallist Dan Bramble at the halfway point, but produced a best jump of 8.11m in round four to win yet another British title.
Anyika Onuora caused possibly the upset of the weekend as she ran a brilliant race to take 400m glory in 51.87 ahead of Christine Ohuruogu. The reigning world champion could do nothing to stop Onoura, as she blasted through the first half of the race to take the lead, which she held all the way to the line.
Olympic bronze medallist Robbie Grabarz continued his return from injury with an inspired performance to win the men's high jump with a World Championships qualifying mark.
On the previous day, Isobel Pooley did what she has been threatening to do for some time, clearing 1.97m to break the British outdoor high jump record. It was also a day to remember for the Porter/Ofili clan, as sisters Tiffany and Cindy took gold and silver in a terrific 100m hurdles final. Defending champion Tiffany Porter knew she came into the race as red hot favourite, but she delivered with a smooth, composed and very impressive 12.83 performance into a 1.5m/s headwind.
Zharnel Hughes proved why he ran Usain Bolt so close in New York, finishing strongly down the home straight in the 200m to win his first British title in 20.42.
In just her second competition back after sitting out the last 16 months with injury, Holly Bradshaw reclaimed the Sainsbury's British title she last won back in 2012 wit ha best clearance of 4.50m.
